Vertigo was nothing new, the pulsing lights going in the same repeated motion as always. The remixed songs blasting out of the sound system with the occasional slow song for the lowers of course. The air smelled like a mix of things, perfume, deodorant, alcohol, and cigarettes all mixed into one. It made Ilieana's nose cringe.
She watched as people of all ages moved and danced around the floor. The flow of the many people made it hard to maneuver around the building. She kept getting bumped and moved around by people carelessly dancing and not paying any attention to the people around them. It made Ilieana wonder how people could be so clueless to their surroundings. It wasn't like they were invisible, because they were more than ever visible.
Ilieana pushed her way to the bar. The bartender looking around his mid twenties and for some reason being around him made Ilieana feel a bit edgy. She wasn't sure if it was his age or the way he looked. She just shrugged it off and asked him for a water. "Sure" was all he said and returned her a cup of ice cold water in a foam cup within a minute. "Thanks." Ilieana said with a short smile and walked away. The water was no charge which was good because she was running low on money, but that's what Landon was for.
Ilieana finished her water and felt more refreshed than ever. She threw the foam cup away in the nearest trash can and made her way to the dance floor. A modern, fun dance song was playing now and it made Ilieana feel like dancing. She threw her hands up and moved around much like all the other people on the floor. It was a lot of fun but she usually had more fun when Landon was with her because he always made everything more fun, whatever it was.
Ilieana looked at all the people and joined some in random dancing. The song changed to a slow song and Ilieana made her way off the dance floor. She watched guys and girls both grad their significant other and flow onto the floor. It made her feel like a loner because she had no boyfriend, nobody to drag out onto the floor. If Landon was here he would have took her out and danced with her to save her from embarrassment at the least.
"Do you uh...want to dance with me?" Some random stranger asked Ilieana. The song was only about 15 or 20 seconds in and the guy was sort of cute so she took the advantage and walked out with him. The slow song lasted for about 3-4 minutes and she broke away from the guy into a more fast song with other people. There was a good chance she was never seeing that guy again but it was fun while it lasted.
Ilieana watched as a few people tried to lift someone up into some kind of crowd surfing thing and the security rush over to tell them to stop and escorted them off the dance floor. Ilieana laughed and continued to dance. She felt her body slam into someone else’s and she immediately gasped and turned around to see who it was. It was a girl, about her age maybe older, that looked surprisingly similar to her own self. "Oh my! I'm so sorry." Ilieana exclaimed and looked at the girl with worry in her eyes. She hoped the girl wouldn't be mad at her. It wasn't like knocked her down and it wasn't like she did it on purpose. "Sorry...." Ilieana said again.
