"Even though it had been awhile since Tobi had been down the alley, it still held that awfully horrid feeling in his gut. It was 10 years now since the days at the orphanage but every single time he saw an alley it made Tobi want to cringe at the memory. It had been everything in him to even stop by the alley today. Tonight was a special night though and he didn't want to keep his daddy Bass waiting. So he was making an effort to get past it. Just as he was about to enter the alley he spied someone sitting beside the wall on the right side of the alley. He started to get that feeling in his gut. The same ominous feeling that had haunted him for so long. But, he ignored it. Tonight was his anniversary after all. The day that Bass became his father. A smile found itself flashing on Tobi's face just as he passed the figure. Even though he meant to look the other way he couldn't help his curiosity and tried to eyeball the person from a glance. What he saw left him speechless. It was a girl. A girl that for some reason, had stolen his heart. Just. Like. That."

Cadence made her way to the alley that she usually went down. It was not too big...narrow actually. That was one of the places in town that she could actually go to, to get some peace. Where nobody else was and she could actually focus on something without people talking to her every two seconds.
Her phone was set on silent so that even if someone tryed to get ahold of her, they wouldnt be able to. She didn't really want to be bother at the time. If it was important enough then they knew where she was. Coming to the alley was creepy...yes, but it was part of routine.
She had a book, drawing pad, and a pencil. Those were the things that she usually carried around with her. Right now though, she was into her book, sitting on the ground against the wall. She was reading the book 'Matched' by Ally Condie. So far it was a good book, she was most of the way through it. It was the typical..love story, picking between two guys, all that, but she still liked it.
Out of nowhere she heard a noise...someone else was in the alley.. "what?" she mumbled, startled. She looked up and saw someone...but they were all the way on the other side of the alley. She didn't want to worry about it too much. After all, this was her..peaceful time. If they wanted to talk to her they would come up to her and talk. She pulled her knees up to her chest and continued to read her book, not worrying about the person that was in the alley with her.
outofcharacter:// i hope it was okay?

"She seemed to not notice him at all. But this didn't matter to Tobi. He was awestruck by the very sight of her. She had the most striking dark chestnut brown hair that fell over her shoulders like ivy and her eyes were the very ice in living form. She seemed fragile and yet, strangely, powerful at the same time. It was a while before he realized that he had been staring at her for what seemed like ages. After a quick look at his watch, he scurried to the other side, looking the other way as he passed her, so as not to become distracted once more. He didn't know her name and he didn't know anything else about her. For all he knew she could be a total nutter. But there was something about the way that those eyes made you drown yourself inside everytime you looked into them. Like she held a secret that was beyond your reach but you were powerless to keep from chasing after it anyway. As he was leaving he allowed himself one more glance and was shocked to see that she was looking right at him. In the current lighting he knew she could see him, and somehow he also knew, that he really couldn't see her. At least not the her that she herself was. And it was this fact that drew him back in. Back into those deep and spellbinding eyes. He couldn't control his body any longer it seemed as he walked closer and closer into what he was certain would be his common sense's doom and finally stopped right at her feet and sat down next to her. Now he was really in hot water. In her cold eyes."

Cadence was startled by the random person staring at her...she brought her book up to her face and to hid her face and let her hair fall down into her face. It was only moments before this person, this guy, was now sitting next to her. She really didnt know who he was, so the fact kind of worried her, but she wasn't going to let it bug her. She looked over at the person and looked back down at her book..page 326...she remembered the page, instead of marking it, shut it, and looked back up at the person.
"Hello...person that I have...never...met in my life?" She questioned. "I'm Cadence. Who are you?" She said in a sweet voice, trying not to be mean. It wouldn't make the best first impression. -- Cutting out from her peace and quiet time, now that it was ruined anyway by a random person she pulled out her phone that was on silent and turned it to vibrate - 5 new messasges - 3 from twitter. 2 were from actual people. The first real one was from her mother. The typical mother text...where are you? what are you doing? are you okay? how are you? who are you with..? all that fun stuff. The next one...her brother. He was 20, in college, and very protective, his text was about as bad as her moms if not worse, with the questions. She ignored them, they would get over it. She shut her phone and looked back up at the guy. "Sorry that was rude. I didn't mean to ignore you for a second there." she laughed and put her attention back on him.

"Her sudden reply took Tobi off guard. He seemed unable to quit staring at her. Into those eyes. Somewhere in the back of his head a little voice was screaming at him to get home. To go home to daddy. But the voice seemed to have fallen under the same spell as Tobi. Finally, after what had seemed like an eternity, he found his voice. 'Tobi. My name's Tobi. Its a pleasure to meet you, Cadence. I wasn't aware that many people used this alley'. I know I certainly don't. he thought. 'I just noticed you and....I had the sudden urge to sit here by you. I hope you don't think that I'm a crepper or something. I'm new in town, and I don't really know anyone. I hope you'll forgive my intrusion onto your peaceful day.' After saying this there seemed to be nothing else to say so he went back into screen saver mode and got lost in her eyes. Gracious, those eyes."

"Well hello Tobi! Nice to meet you...in an alley" She laughed at the random stranger. "Yeah I go to this alley quite alot actually. I never really see anyone else in it though, thats why you startled me. It's kind of my quiet spot from time to time when I need to take a few deep breathes. You know what I mean?" She said rambling on for a little while and then shut herself up. "Oh and if you spend enough time with me, you will notice that I do ramble on..about random stuff. So sorry about that." She smiled..
He went on about something, something random, about how he was new in town and how he didn't know anyone really. "Well..count me as the first person you know then." She smiled. "And trust me.. it's fine.. you didn't intrude on my peace. To be quite honest. I was getting bored anyway." She said and then she readjusted herself to where she was standing up. She grabbed his hand and helped him up too so he wasn't alone on the ground for too long.

"He could hardly believe it! She had just grabbed his hand! So many different images burst inside of Tobi's head and it was like he was a lonely banana split that finally found the always needed cherry for his top. It was as if in that one touch, he had found everything in life that he had learned to live without. It took him awhile to realize that she intended to lift him to his feet. He could only nod awkwardly as he was led out the other side of the alley. After they were a decent amount of distance away she began to ask him small little questions like 'Where are you from', and 'You live with your parents?' etc. It took him awhile but he was finally able to make his tongue produce words. 'I used to be a resident of the Umbridge Little Tikes Asylum for Troubled Boys'. he said. 'I wasn't crazy or anything, just an orphan. I was adopted exactly a year ago by another former resident. My daddy, Bastian Girard. I'm sorry if I startled you with my response, I just figured I should be honest with you.' he said and did his best to smile. Even after all these years it still hurts he said. But, he didn't let her see that there was a tear that was trying desperately to leave the recesses of his eye. Far be it from me to have to expose her to that. Such eyes should never have to see such ugliness, such beautiful eyes... "

Cadence asked him a bunch of questions, about his life amd stuff. Suprisingly a bit startled by his sudden answers. They kind of seemed depressing. "That sounds horrible. I'm so sorry." She apologized for no apparent reason. "So, why were you an orphan?" She said and then facepalmed herself for asking such a stupid question. You shouldnt ask questions like that, it was personal, you just shouldn't. "I--uhm...sorry. I'm sorry. I didnt mean to ask that. Thats a really personal question." She said apologized. She seemed to be doing alot of that latley, apologizing.
"For a less personal question, how old are you?" She asked. That seemed like an important question to ask a stranger aside from their name. Before she let him answer, she answered the question herself. "I'm only sixteen. I know I'm young but still.." She smiled. She kept recieving calls and texts from her brother but she just ignored them, they were nothing really important, they never were. She pulled out her phone and changed it to silent and slipped it back into her pocket again.

"'It's alright'. he said with an awkward smile. My father Zacharie and my mother Jackline were working for a research company and there was an accident. They were...... disintegrated in an explosion. It took dental records to identify their bodies. But, anyway I'm 16. Or at least that's the age that Bass and I decided on. I don't really know what my age is. I used to get really sad about it but it doesn't bother me as much now that I have Bass.
Sorry to talk so much about myself. What about yourself?' It took everything in him not to right then and there kiss her. She was so beautiful. No don't even think about it Tobi. You're not that kid anymore. You don't even know if she likes you. why would she? She's so perfect and you are unfortunately, nothing more than that same little kid from the asylum. That's all I'll ever be isn't it? If only Tobi knew what would happen next. If only."

She could tell there was a bit of awkwardess in his voice, which was acceptable. He told her about his parents, it was horrible. "Oh my gosh. That's terrible. I'm so so sorry!" She said her voice really low with sorrow and sympathy. "I can't even being to imagine.." she said embracing him with a random hug. x-x He said something about how he was 16, or atleast thats what he thought. It kind of made her eyebrow raise. "You...dont know for sure your age? Why is that?" She asked only curious. How could someone not know their own age, that seemed weird.
He apologized for talking about himself so much. "No, it's okay. I really don't have a backstory. I'm kind of...disturbingly normal. Nothing extremely crazy, important, or tragic has happened in my life yet. I mean, as stupid as this sounds, I can't think of any flaws. Sorry." She said. She really couldn't think about anything to tell him. Nothing has happened that's worth telling or getting sympathy from.

"'I envy you. All I have ever wanted was a normal life with normal issues and a normal family. To come home from school and be embraced by a normal mother and father and playfully fight with normal siblings. You're so lucky Cadence. I mean I love Bass with all of my heart but he isn't exactly normal. Sorry to be complaining so much'. he was apologizing a lot. Regaining his conscience for a brief moment he realized what time it was. 'I would really love to stay and talk, you're so easy to talk to and I hope it doesn't sound weird or anything but I really like you Cadence, but, tonight is supposed to be my anniversary with Bass. The day he adopted me so I really do need to go. But I would love to hear from you again. Can we meet here tomorrow? same time? or earlier? I'd really like that. What are you doing? You barely know her. but those eyes. God those eyes."

"Awh, don't envy me. My life isn't all that great or normal. I mean I did say I was way normal but in a way I wish my life was different" She said, with a bit of saddness. Her life was more normal than alot of people but she still didn't consider it the best. She couldn't imagine her life without her older brother Hayden or her little sister Mandii. She couldn't think of how it would be coming home and not seeing her mothers smiling face there to welcome her. --
Tobi thought for what seemed like a brief moment which made Cadence laugh because he seemed instantly way serious. "Oh that's fine. Enjoy your night! I'm sure it will be tons of fun!" She smiled. "Yeah, I guess we can meet here tomorrow. I need more friends and I'm not doing anything so that sounds great. Time, I really don't care. I have no life so any time will work. Do you know of any set time that will work best for you?" She asked politely. She was really hoping she would make a friend out of this whole deal. She really need more of those. (: [/blockquote]

"Bass was beginning to get worried. It had been exactly three hours and forty two minutes since Tobi had supposed to arrived home and Bass didn't like this tardiness. Especially tonight of all nights. He had thought that this was important to Tobi as well as him. Maybe not as much as he thought. 'He is so dead when he gets home........After cake and ice cream.'"

"As Tobi was walking home after his encounter with Cadence, all he could think about was how happy she had made him. Not in the way that Bass did, it was different with Cadence. More exciting! It was all he could do not to just completely lose all sense around her she was so beautiful. But, she had made him late. That was ridiculous. No one had made him late but himself. He just hoped that Bass wouldn't mind. He probably wouldn't. Once he knew why. He took out his phone and sent to text messages, the first to Bass telling him he was on his way, and the second to Cadence. It was surprising longer than the first message. And much more personal. He hoped she wouldn't think he was a weirdy for sending it. All he could do was wait. Wait for her to read what he had put out into cyberspace for her to either accept, or stomp into the dust. His heart."
