"Afternoon mother," Jenelle said quietly as she entered the kitchen of the Reese's new home; it was their first official day being settled down in Megalopolis. "Afternoon to you as well sweetheart. Why do you look all dressed up?" Alyssa Reese asked her daughter with suspicion covering her face. Jenelle poured her a to go cup of coffee and shrugged, "I don't know, why not? It's my first day here, and I don't know anyone." Jenelle sighed and took a drink of coffee. "Oh, honey, it's our first day here. Why don't you go to the Hush Park? It's only a couple blocks from here," her mom suggested. Jenelle nodded, "That's what I planned on doing. See you later." She smiled at her mother and made her way to the front door.
Today, Jenelle was wearing a striped, black and white cardigan sweater with a light, white T-shirt under it as well as dark, washed skinny jeans with black heels. She had on black sunglasses on with a plain, black purse over her right shoulder. Her hair was straight as well. In her purse, she had her iPhone, a mechanical pencil, and a notepad. Jenelle thought that going to the Hush Park would give her an idea to draw something.
Five minutes had passed and Jenelle was at the Hush Park. She took another drink of her coffee and stopped in her tracks to search for an empty bench. She saw one about a half mile away. Jenelle took another drink and headed that way. She passed a grandmother along with her granddaughter; the grandmother was sitting on a bench and reading a story to her granddaughter. There wasn't anyone else in the park besides a boy around Jenelle's age that was slumped against a tree with a cigarette occupying his mouth. As Jenelle walked by, he looked up from the ground to look at her which made her a bit nervous. 'Should I go talk to him? No, no, let him come to you, Jenelle.' She just continued to walk trying to ignore the boy.
Jenelle made it to the bench and sat down. She slid her purse off her shoulder as well as setting it by her side along with her coffee. Jen unzipped her purse and grabbed the pencil and notepad. She took her sunglasses off and put them in her purse as well as zipping it back up. She began thinking about what to draw and decided to draw her surroundings. As Jen was drawing, her thoughts were saying, 'I wonder if that cute boy will come over here...'.

Jinx's brain hurt. There was a new and growing pain behind his eyeballs too, and he imagined it was from the decibel his iPod was playing on. Max Volume. For now, it was a sort of silly song that he enjoyed: Sweet Talk 101 by Cute is What We Aim For.
His pain wasn't really new... he actually rather liked it in a weird way. To say the least, Jinx had been a bit stressed lately. Having nothing but free time on his hands left him with the ridiculous question: 'what do I do now?'. In his past, he'd spend every waking moment with his buddy Carter or a pretty girl. He still did hang out with lots of pretty girls...just not his long time buddy Carter. They weren't exactly on speaking terms.
But speaking of pretty girls... one had just walked by and Jinx's eyes didn't fail to notice how nice her clothes looked against her pretty skin. She carried coffee which was a redeeming quality to Jinx. For a moment, she had this look ... a 'deer in the headlights' sort of look but less intense. Was she put off by his smoking? He didn't think anything of it anymore, really. Cigarettes had become a pretty basic extension of himself by now and more than anything, they helped clear his mind of all the nasty stuff circulating around and around.
If you looked past his cool exterior -(nice, tight fitting jeans, vans, comfy T-shirt, sun-kissed skin and artfully styled hair)- you'd find a pretty mashed up boy. He didn't mind hiding behind the smoke. But then again, maybe she did. And he really wanted to talk to her.
Without waiting further, Jinx let the cig fall to the ground where he stepped on it and began the short and casual walk that would take him towards the girl. He was curious... what was she doing? ooc;; -- excited. (: tag;; sweet talk 101, Carter W., Jenelle R. pic;;; click

Jenelle had drawn a couple of trees along with a sidewalk and a bench that looked almost like an exact replica of the Hush Park, but she was startled by someone stomping their foot hard to the ground. Jenelle looked up from her drawing and noticed that it was that boy she had passed stomping on his cigarette. 'Why'd he do that? It looked as if he had just lit it when I walked by. Did he put it out because I gave him a look? A look that says I don't like smoking?' she thought as well as biting her lip. Jenny noticed that once he was finished putting out the cigarette, he made his way towards her.
Jenelle looked away and quickly unzipped her purse as well as putting her notepad and pencil back in it. She zipped it back up and put it back to her side as well as taking another drink of coffee. By the time she was finished, the boy had already made it to the her ben--er, the bench she was sitting at. Jenny smiled a pleasant smile as he sat down beside her. She didn't mind because he was incredibly cute and didn't have a bad taste in clothes either.
Jenelle turned her head so she could face the boy. "Afternoon," she said in a sweet and pleasant voice. "I'm Jenelle," she added with a smile. She took another drink of coffee and looked into his eyes; his eyes were very, very dark brown, but they fit him really well. Jen noticed that she was staring and it was most likely making him uncomfortable; so, she took another drink of coffee as well as waiting for him to respond.

"You didn't stop because of me, did you?" Jinx smiled his signature grin and opted for leaning against the back of the bench. He'd watched her hastily pack up her notepad and pencils as he made his way over. "What were you doing anyway?" Nosy. Jinx was a very nosy guy.
When the girl, Jenelle, greeted him, Jinx smiled again and it didn't really go away. The seat beside her was empty, so he moved to sit there; tapping his long fingers against his pocket as he did so. There was a half empty pack of cigarettes there and he was itching to pull one out again. He didn't.
"My name's Jinx," he said and laughed quietly when he noticed her stare. She didn't hear it, probably. He stared right back, unabashedly. He was confident and not afraid to be caught staring. ooc;; -- out of my element here. xD tag;; Jenelle R. pic;;; click

Jenelle smiled nervously as well as biting her lip when the boy asked her what she was doing. She sighed and took another drink of her coffee that was sitting helplessly by her side. "Well...," Jenelle started off as she unzipped her purse and pulled her notepad back out. She zipped her bag up again; she was very cautious of her things. "I was drawing my surroundings in the Hush Park. It's my first day here, and I thought coming here would give me an idea of what to draw," Jenelle explained adding a sweet smile at the end.
Jenny handed the boy, who said his name was Jinx, her notepad so that he could look at her drawing. "It's nothing fantastic, but you can have a look anyway," she said with a shrug. Before Jinx took the notepad, she noticed how his long fingers tapped against his pocket. She managed to make an image of a cigarette box that was sitting motionless in his pocket. "I'm not a smoker, but I don't mind you smoking in front of me. Just don't blow the smoke in my way, please," Jenny added with a pleasant smile.
Jenelle noticed how he was staring at her. She bit her lip once more and took another drink because she was a bit nervous. Once Jenelle finished swallowing the hot, black coffee, she cleared her throat and said, "So, if you don't mind me asking, is Jinx your real name? Or is it some kind of nickname?" She smiled a bit and took another drink of coffee while she waited.

Jinx waited patiently, very interested and curious what she was going to show him. She took her time unzipping and re-zipping her bag; careful with her stuff. Jinx was more of a carefree guy... that's probably why most of his stuff was broken. For example, every backpack he'd ever owned had eventually lost the zipper. Maybe he should take Jenelle's example.
"Damn," Jinx shook his head and let out a slow whistle. "If this is 'not fantastic' then you really don't wanna see what I call drawing. If I could draw like that," He shook his head - eyebrows raised dramatically. After taking his time and looking at it throughly, Jinx handed it back, his slow smile returning.
"That's good," He responded to her saying she wasn't a smoker. "Smoking is terrible for you. It's a really nasty habit." He winked. "I recommend never trying it...cos it's hell to kick." Jinx's before mentioned long fingers moved to scratch the back of his head absently. It left some of his crazy hair standing up in the back. he didn't notice.
"It's a nick name," He nodded. "Cause' I'm sort of usually bad luck." Jinx smiled half-heartedly and poked Jenelle in the side. "Betcha' can't guess my real name." It wasn't an unusual one...just an ordinary name. Bor-iiingg. ooc;; -- (: <3 tag;; Jenelle R. pic;;; click

While waiting for Jinx's reply on her drawing, she took another drink of coffee. Drinking coffee usually calmed her nerves. She really didn't know what was wrong because she wasn't usually this nervous around guys. Jinx, however, was different for some reason. But a good different. Jenny set her coffee down and giggled a bit at his reaction. "Thanks. I was just getting started, and then you came over. I'll probably add some more stuff to it later," she said with a smile as well as taking the notepad from him when he was finished looking at it. Quickly, she slipped it back into her purse.
Jenelle listened carefully to what Jinx was saying about smoking and how it was bad for you, so on and so forth. It really had confused her. "I'm confused. You say it's bad for you, a nasty habit to conquer, and you wouldn't recommend it. But on the other hand, you smoke? You say all those things, but you smoke anyway? Care to share?" Jenelle said with a giggle during the last sentence. 'Double standards, I guess...," she thought but still had a confused look on her face.
Jenny nodded when he said it was a nickname; he got it because he was usually bad luck and poked Jenelle in the side which was followed by a small giggle. She smiled, "Sorry, ticklish there." Jen took another drink of coffee and thought for a moment what his real name could be. "I don't know, pokey?" she responded trying to be funny, but ended up failing miserably. She smiled once more and said, "I don't know, I'm not that great at guessing. Hmm...Luke?"

"Well I hope I get to see it when it's done." Jinx twitched his nose because it felt kinda tickley and ended up making his weird face...the one he always made before... *sneeze* ...that. "X'cuse me." Jinx laughed lightly. He'd never really liked his laugh which was bad seeing that he laughed pretty much all the time. It sounded really childish and it usually made other people laugh too. Maybe that wasn't so bad.
Again, he let free a small laugh. "Yup. And they're super expensive," He really meant what he said. They were nasty cancer-sticks. That's what his mom called them. But whatever. "Well... it's like... it's something I do to calm me down and I don't do it all the time." He was starting to get fidgety. Jinx had never been one to stay seated.
When he got up from the bench, it let out a creaky groan. "And I need to be calm... ADD." He stuck his tongue out and made a small gesture to himself. His attention-span was like that of a goldfish. "So, yeah." He quirked his mouth to the side randomly.
Jinx had been twisting lightly on his heel, making an indention in the dirt. But he stopped that to look at Jenelle. "Oh yes. My name is Pokey." That kind of cracked him up. Pokey. Cue the childish laugh. "Good guess," he said at length. Not really... she wasn't even close. "Actually it's Adam." ooc;; -- (: <3 tag;; Jenelle R. pic;;; click

Jenelle took the last drink of her coffee and got up to go throw it away. She never favored littering, and the trash can wasn't that far away from where she was sitting. When she returned, she heard Jinx say that he would love to see her drawing when it was completed. She smiled and nodded, "For sure." She couldn't help but laugh when Jinx had let out a sneeze as well as a laugh. She thought his laugh was cute. "You're excused. Cute laugh, by the way," Jenny said with a smile.
Jenny listened to Jinx go into more in depth about the cigarettes, and why he smokes so much even though he knows they are bad for him. She noticed that he was getting awfully fidgety and ended getting up from the bench; the bench had a made a loud, creaky groan as well. She couldn't help but laugh when he made a silly gesture towards himself. "You all right there, Pokey?" she asked with letting out a small laugh. "And, I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to keep yourself calm. I'm not one to judge about the ADD or the smoking," she added with a smile. Jenelle was never the judgemental type. She thought it was rude.
Jenelle thought it was pretty surprising that Jinx had found her little joke about his name being Pokey funny. It had made her happy for just a brief moment. She found out that Jinx's real name was actually Adam. "Psh, good guess? I was like a billion letters away from A," she said with a smile. "Well, here's my question, which would you prefer I call you? Jinx or Adam?" she asked as well as standing up and walking towards him a bit. Once again, she stared deeply into his dark, brown eyes. Before letting him answer, Jenelle added, "Wanna go grab a coffee some where and maybe come back later?"

Jinx wrinkled his nose in a childish way and held out a hand to help Jenelle up from her bench. "And yupp I'm just dandy. You?" He had a sinking realization that he'd just earned himself a new nick-name. There were worse names then 'Pokey', though. It could be something really embarrassing. Whatever... he could be Adam, Jinx or Pokey.
"Why? You don't smoke do you?" Jinx raised an eyebrow. What'd she mean she wasn't one to judge? Just...not judgmental or part of the Dark Side too?
"Pshh.. Pokey... Adam... same difference. They kinda' sound alike... if you use a really weird accent and plug one ear. You can call me whatever you want as long as I can call you, too." He winked and said, "Here, can I see your phone?" With a sly-ish smile.

When Jinx asked if Jenelle was a smoker, she immediately shook her head no. "No, sir. I do not smoke. What I meant is that I'm not the judgemental type person. Everyone has a bad habit, so you shouldn't judge anyone, especially if you don't know them very well," Jenelle explained to Jinx which followed by a smile. She walked around the bench just to stretch her legs, and Jinx's eyes followed her every move. It was somewhat uncomfortable, but on the other hand...Jenelle liked it...a lot.
Once Jenelle made her way back around the bench, Jinx asked to see her phone. She reached for her purse and pulled it out as well as slipping her purse on her shoulder. "Hmm, I don't know. I usually don't give my number out to strangers," she said with a taunting voice. "Just kidding, here." She tossed the phone to Jinx, and he caught it as well as handing Jenelle his phone. She entered her number and put it under: JenelleFaith(:. "There ya go, Pokey." Jenelle said to him with a flirty-ish smile.
Jinx had agreed to going to get some coffee as well as interlocking their arms together. Even though Jen was new to Megalopolis, she knew the local coffee shop wasn't too far away. As they were walking, Jenny was going to ask Jinx to tell her about himself when all of a sudden she slipped on a slick part on the sidewalk. She thought she was going to land straight on her butt, but Jinx was quick enough to catch her hand and placed his hand gently on her back. He brought her up close to him, their faces only a few inches apart. "T-Thanks. Wow...you have really pretty eyes," she said as she looked into his dark, intimidating brown eyes.
It took Jenelle a few minutes to catch her breath. Once she did, she interlocked her right arm with Jinx's left, and they started again towards the coffee shop. "So, Jinx tell me about yourself," she asked somewhat quietly. Jenelle felt a little embarrassed about slipping, but when they were face to face and inches apart, she had the urge to kiss him.

Those two traits, however horrible she made them out to be, were hardly anything to bat an eyelash at. He had the same stupid traits as well. "Actually, I really am a kid at heart and look," Jinx brought his hands up to eye level so that Jenelle could see. "I bite my fingernails; stuby. And, you may not believe it--though you should--but I am a class A klutz as well. Honest to goodness." Jinx wore a serious expression that ended silly as he placed a hand over his heart and then saluted with two fingers.

Jinx gave him a reasonable tip; (poor kid had to stand around making coffee for picky people all day and probably went home smelling like it -- ew).

When Jinx told Jenelle that her eyes were pretty too, she couldn't help but blush and smile a little. She was going to thank him, but all the words coming to her mouth disappeared once his soft and full lips placed themselves on her forehead. Once he released, she stuttered not really knowing what to say. "Wow, you're too sweet," she said quietly, which was the only thing that came to her mind. 'Wow, Jen, laaaame!'
As the local coffee shop's shape began to appear, Jinx started naming off random facts about himself. He likes the animated movie, 'Robin Hood', favorite fruit is watermelon, allergic to cashews, he has glasses, but hates wearing them, and plaid is his favorite color. She nodded her head and said, "Little kid at heart, eh? Cute, and I bet you would look cute with your glasses on." Jenelle smiled and just remembered that he said awhile back something about her looking perfect or something along those lines. "Oh, and, about what you said back there about me being perfect, yeah, I'm not even close as you can tell from me almost busting my butt back there. I can be a klutz, and I have stubby fingernails," she responded to him with a shy-ish smile. She really wasn't fond of talking about her insecurities.
After about ten minutes of walking, they finally made it to the coffee shop. Like a gentleman, Jinx opened the door for her and let her order first. She smiled and said, "One medium vanilla latte, please." One employee got her coffee ready as another told her the price, which was only $2.50, tax included. As Jinx was ordering, Jenelle took her coffee and found an empty booth somewhat in a corner. Jenelle took a drink and smiled as Jinx made his way over to the table. "So, Pokey," Jenelle started off as well as adding a wink, "how old are you?" She smiled and took another drink of her coffee, which was really good, as she waited for him to reply.

Jenelle was content; she had her favorite drink and had met a new friend. So far, her first actual day in Megalopolis was progressing. Jinx thanked her for giving him her number, and that he would possibly call her sometime. "Yeah, I'd like that," she responded to him with a sweet smile. "And, no, I do not wear glasses," she added.
As Jenelle was taking another drink, Jinx had asked her what she got. She swallowed and wiped her mouth before answering, "I got a vanilla latte. What about you?" Jenelle somewhat already knew his answer though; it just looked like he got a plain coffee, no whip cream, no flavorings, no...nothing. Just coffee. Hers, however, had vanilla flavoring, whip cream, and a little bit of chocolate syrup.
When Jinx said that he had an old man status, she really wasn't for sure how to react. Was he immortal? Was he in-human? were the kinds of questions that popped up in her mind. They somewhat died down and finally disappeared once he said he was eighteen, and will be nineteen in September. 'He was just joking. Immortal? Wow, Jenelle,' she thought with a sigh. "Just turned seventeen. I'll be eighteen in January," Jenelle responded to him. She hoped that their little age difference wouldn't make him not like her or be interested in her anymore. She didn't know the kid that well, and she didn't know if he was looking for someone older and more experienced than her. Now adays, that's what boys were looking for.
Jenelle felt her nerves and heart beat begin to race. So, she took a long drink, and the hot coffee felt amazing going down her throat. Coffee always calmed her nerves and is the only thing that will calm her down. As the coffee settled in her stomach, her heart beat dropped, and she felt more calm. To up her mood, she would play a joke on Jinx. "Hey Jinx, I think you have something on your nose," she said, which was followed by, "Here, I'll get it." She leaned over the table with her left hand making its way to Jinx's nose while her right pointer finger dipped itself in the whip cream. Before her left hand made contact, her pointer finger tapped his nose; whip cream was all over the tip of it. She started laughing and said, "Gotcha." She sat back down and took another drink, finishing off with a sneaky smile on her face.
