Chris was just getting off her bike, letting it rest against the nearest tree which just so happened to be humongously tall. All the trees in their area were huge--like they'd been growing and alive for thousands of years. It was one of the things that made Megalopolis a very ...endearing place.
She was quiet, just like always--almost silent--her skirt and hair was blowing backward from the wind. Today, she was feeling lonely. Sad and alone and even more so than usual. As a result of that, the wind was picking up and the sky was turning gray, somewhere in the distance she could make out a sound close to thunder...it probably was.
Eventually she found herself sitting on the shoreline, letting the water wash up around her feet. Where the water touched her skin, it became icy and cold and before long almost all of the water was cold. Chris looked down, letting her fingers drag through the sand. Wherever they had been, little clumps of frozen sand stuck together. She felt cold...and still alone.

The wind grew in intensity the longer she stayed there. The more she felt sad and alone, the more the weather turned sour and the more the weather turned sour, the more she felt alone and sad. All around it was a lose, lose situation and there wasn't even a reason--all her life, Chris had grown up generally alone. She could only guess that this was one of those times when the realization of that set in.
She was on the verge of tears, could feel them coming and could see the way they blurred everything when someone scared her to death. "Umm, are you okay?" It was a girls voice, and really close too. Chris jumped and whipped her head to the side in order to see who was there; hoping it wasn't anyone bad. The tear that had been hanging there on the precipice, slipped free and did a free-fall down her cheek. It reached as far as her cheek before it froze into a tiny crystal droplet of water; she quickly wiped it away.
"I-I...I'm fine." Chris tried a smile "But you really scared me." With this girl as a distraction, Chris wasn't thinking about solitude and also wasn't feeling sad; after that the thunder stopped, though the clouds remained gray and the water cold.

"I'm Christine Caldwell...but I like 'Chris' better...anyway 's nice to meet you too." She smiled a small smile, sort of lopsided and held out her hand for Dylan to shake...hopefully she wouldn't mind the chill. It would be like touching snow, or so she'd been told.
"I......can I help you?" She asked then frowned, that's not what she'd meant to say. Chris's social skills were zero, courtesy of having zero amount of socialization. "Sorry, that's not what I meant. How about...what's up?" She smiled, awkwardly and pushed the hair out of her face. "I ah...I fail at being social. Whoops." Chris pulled her knees up to her chest and rested her head there; she felt like a dummy.
