Carter was having such a fun time--the trip to the grocery store seemed to go by in fast-forward mode. With the wind in his hair, the coolness of the early night air--it was amazing. Not long after their little journey began, Carter looked over to find Jazmine's eyes peacefully closed. Her eyelashes were casting small shadows across her cheeks and she was smiling slightly. He absently wondered if she were dreaming and if so; what she was dreaming about.
As they came to a slight traffic jam, Carter looked over at her again, smiling. With nothing better to do, he flipped open his cell phone and found the Contact entry for 'Jinx'. Quietly, he sent him a text that said something along the lines of 'Man you wouldn't believe where I am right now...or who I'm with.' Jinx's reply was short and sweet--as always. 'U r w/a hot chick, & she's begging u 2 kiss her...?" Carter laughed...well he was with a hot girl. But she was asleep-- he told Jinx that and of course he took that the way a mind-in-the-gutter teenage boy usually would. Their conversation ended, however when the light changed and the flood of cars made their exit.
Rolling up his window, Carter found a safe parking space and pulled in flawlessly. He was actually pretty proud of himself. Turning towards his...Jazmine, Carter touched her cheek lightly with the backs of his fingers and then moved to rest his hand on her shoulder; gently shaking her awake. With a smile he watched Jazmine lift her head up and rub at her eyes groggily. It was kind of cute...the kind of thing a kid would do; the kind of thing Carter still did too. When she said that she'd told him he would do good, he raised his eyebrows in mock-surprise.
"You mean you missed all of that! We just got into a cop chase! I Hit a biker!" He faked a look of despair before squeezing her shoulder once and winking. His hand--he just realized-- was still there so he moved it away. "Just kidding, chicka." The word had flowed easily from his mouth...it was something Jinx always said. He hoped she wouldn't mind.
After they had both exited the car and locked it, Carter walked around to Jazmine's side and smiled at the way she was still sort of stumbling sleepily. With a sudden urge he reached down and threaded his fingers through hers so that they were holding hands. "Still sleepy?" He asked, eyebrows slightly raised as his eyes were almost wide with excitement. Not of going to the grocery store though, of course but being this close to somebody.
He felt sort of sleepy too all of the sudden...it'd been sort of a long day. Yet it'd been a good one. Maybe it hadn't started out so great...his mom had thrown a temper tantrum because he hadn't vacuumed the floor, locked herself up in her bedroom and wouldn't come out...so he left. "Jazmine?" He said and it sounded like a question--he was curious about something. "If it's not too personal...or rude...I was going to ask if you live alone?" He twisted his mouth to the side; wondering. If she was from a wealthy family then her house was probably big and if she lived alone in it...how lonely would it really be? words: 617

Jazmine told him that she was tired but that her sleepiness couldn't keep her from spending time with him. He looked over at her, smiling with appreciation. He barely saw the blush that spread across her cheeks in the dim lighting but to let her know that he felt the same, he squeezed her hand just a little bit tighter and said sort of quietly, "I feel the same way." And now Carter was the one with a slight blush. If Jinx were here, he would've playfully smacked Carter upside the head for being so 'mushy'. He could just hear the boyish voice in his head 'Dude, when'd you go so soft.' But that was just Jinx. He was benevolent sometimes too.
Upon hearing that she did, in fact, spend most of her time alone, Carter frowned and again, squeezed her hand shortly so that she'd know he was there for her. He mostly lived alone too though to his knowledge, his home didn't house as many bad memories as Jazmine's did. He wished there was something he could do though there really wasn't. In his head, he made the silent promise that--if she needed him, or wanted him around--he'd be there to keep her company. The idea of that may have seemed stupid to anyone who didn't get what loneliness felt like...but to him it made sense. If he didn't have Jinx then he'd have been lost to the world a long time ago. Jinx and Robbie. Did Jazmine have a pet? If not, then she should. A dog or something to keep her company.
As the reached the stores interior, Jazmine left to go find a shopping cart and Carter drifted down the nearest isle to grab a small bag of dog food. He was just starting to turn back and look for Jazmine to see what was taking her so long when she was suddenly right behind him, her hand against his back as she pushed him playfully to the side. His heart was beating over time. "Heyy! No fair, you surprised me." He grinned but then turned a sheepish glance to the front of the store. When Jazmine had snuck up on him, he knocked over a small pile of cat-food cans. Hastily he picked them up and put them back. Of course, they weren't arranged as neatly as before but...at least they weren't on the floor.
After twenty five, maybe thirty minutes later, they were checking out. The grocery trip had proved more fun than one might think; a mild game of hide and go seek-tag had ensued as well as a few more displays being knocked over...a lot of laughing had been done.
It was pretty pricey as his grocery trips always were and as he pulled out his wallet, took all the money out and counted it--his heart sank. He was two dollars short...and embarrassed to no end. How awful must it have looked to run out of money at the cash register. Hanging his head slightly, so that his hair fell down to conceal his eyes, he thought of what to take back. He'd nearly made up his mind when Jazmine handed the cashier two dollars. She looked happy enough to do it but Carter had never loved the idea of taking other peoples money. Even though she told him not to worry about paying her back though, he knew he would later. Even if it was only two dollars...it was just how he saw things--fair. Eventually, they'd unloaded the groceries and Jazmine was asking if he wanted to come over. She'd offered him the chance to drive her car again though that wasn't the reason he accepted. Watching the stars sounded o-kay.(:
He sat back into the drivers seat, hoping that he wasn't being silly for wanting to drive it again. This time though, he didn't act like such a goof ball. He left the window open for the sake of a refreshing night breeze--the air smelled slightly of rain though the clouds weren't' terribly heavy. "So, Jazmine, how has your day been?" He looked over his shoulder with a smile...and wondered if her day had been as great as his. So far, the start of his night was going alright too. It was almost 11 pm...but then again; time flies when you're having fun.

Carter listened to Jazmine's explanation of her day with quiet interest. It was the most fun day she'd ever had and he was immeasurably proud of that fact...he was responsible for at least part of it. In his head, he made a note to do something even more fun, more memorable with her. Maybe taking a road trip, going to the beach, bowling...just something she could really call a fun day. He'd think more about it later.
Carter answered her question, 'Did you?' with a large dimpling smile, resisting the urge to touch her shoulder or something when he said "Yeah." It was a simple answer but anybody could have heard the truth behind it. "Today wasn't supposed to be fun...it started out pretty bad actually. But...it's gone well since the train station and I think we all know why that is." He winked to Jazmine and compressed his lips into a smile; driving easily down the dark streets.
Jazmine turned the radio station from a weird country song to New Divide, a song Carter had liked ever since he had seen the Transformers movie it was featured on. "No, I don't mind as long as you don't mind me singing to it." He smiled slightly. He knew all the words.
The directions weren't hard but he ended up asking, 'where next' a couple times anyway. After a while, he had it down and just as they were coming closer to what must've been her house; he realized it was quiet. For a moment, he wondered if Jazmine was asleep again...he'd look to see if she was in just a minute. For the time being, his eyes were fixed on that house in front of them. Damn,,, his mind trailed. How could such an attractive place hold so many bad memories? It seemed wrong.
"Hey, do you know how you asked me if I live alone, and I said yes?" Jazmine asked, Carter nodded and pulled the car to a stop in the driveway. She told him that she had a dog--he was pleased to hear that. Then at least she didn't live completely alone. "I know what you mean about not being able to replace her...it's the same with my dog Robbie." Carter sighed, thinking about the poor thing. He'd been left in the backyard...he'd be okay unless it rained. Nobody likes to be trapped in the rain. "Do I get to meet Ellie?" He asked, undoing the seatbelt and pulling the keys from the ignition. He handed them to Jazmine then, and stepped out of the drivers seat. The Hendrix mansion loomed over them intimidatingly

As they walked around the front of the car, Jazmine said "Well, here we are!" And they definitely were. Carter couldn't keep the incredulity form his voice or face when he looked over to Jazmine and said, "Wow. You...you live here?" Really, it was obvious that she did but still...he was slightly dumbfounded.
Carter couldn't stop looking around; he'd always been an observant guy...even as a kid he took in every part of his surroundings. Right now, there was a whole lot to see. And he didn't miss any of it. Not the fact that the three stories were perfectly proportioned, that the landscaping was flawless except for slightly overgrown grass. If she needed him to he'd mow it...he usually did that in the summers for people anyway. Though thinking more of it, he realized that she probably had a whole load of gardeners or whatever to take care of it.
Carter followed a few steps behind Jazmine as she unlocked the front door and opened it. Carter jumped slightly as she yelled her dogs name but he didn't think Jazmine had seen anyway. (His masculinity was preserved. ) "Nice to meet you, Ellie." He said, extending his arm to pet the small dog. He couldn't help but to think that Robbie could probably eat Jazmine's dog for dinner...not a pleasant mental picture. 'She likes you.' Jazmine smiled and immediate took off into a tour. Carter scrambled to follow so that he wouldn't get lost. It was dark and quiet though they turned the lights on as they went.
The house was amazing and really tidy. Carter couldn't help but try to picture Jazmine here as a little girl with her mom and dad and their violence...it was difficult. The decorating made it seem cheerful, though there was some part of it that made it feel empty. Like there was only one person living here...very true. He also noticed that they hadn't toured her parents room...unless they had slept in a guest room or the living room. He assumed that it was the doorway at the end of a long-ish hallway. Jazmine looked sad when they walked by it and so he rested his hand on her back; steering them a random direction (any direction) away from the room that made her eyes darken like they did.
As it turned out, that random direction led to an outside door; a door to the backyard. He had been mostly silent throughout the tour; taking it all in. He was still uncharacteristically quiet now. Maybe it was the fact that the house seemed solemn...like there weren't very many happy memories to make you smile. Jazmine set Ellie down and they were left alone. With not much else to do, Carter let his eyes follow Jazmine as she walked around the large area. At one point, she leaned over the pool side to stick her hand in. He almost thought she would fall in though she didn't. Then, he decided to sit on a nearby lawn chair--balancing on the end.
In the next few seconds, Carter spaced out a bit; just thinking like usual. His mind was in a million different places at once. He didn't notice Jazmine inching closer and barely heard her giggle until he looked up; confused. The way she looked at him made Carter nervous...there was a funny look in her eyes; she was going to ask him something. He almost said what before she even phrased the question. 'You have two options,' she said and Carter grinned; mischievous. "Oh really?" But then let her finish. She said they could go star-gazing at her special place or that they could go swimming. It was his choice.
"Well...I can't say that I know a whole lot about stars, but I've never been very good at swimming either." He was actually okay at swimming...he had a B in science when they covered Astronomy. " Know what I think? He said, getting up. "I think that you should chose...because I know I'll have fun either way."

Carter was even more surprised than before when Jazmine decided to seat herself on his lap...apparently the nearest chair was too far away. He didn't exactly mind. He noticed that her hair smelled kind of like him; probably from his jacket. Carter smiled a simple but dimpled smile when Jazmine leaned back; her head on his shoulder. "Well, hello there." He said, continuing his grin. Without really thinking about it, his arms met in front of them both; inadvertently holding Jazmine. It was like a backwards hug. Weird, but somehow good. Enjoying the moment maybe too much, Carter placed a barely there kiss to Jazmine's temple and gave her a slightly more obvious hug before getting up and letting his arms slip loose. As it turned out, they were going to do both star-watching and midnight swimming. Oddly enough, he couldn't wait.
~ *~
Carter hadn't been without a shirt since the previous summer...the time in between--Winter--was spent like normal people would spend it; in clothes. It was weird though...that he had muscles now. Jinx had been making him go to the gym every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday since November...a plan that he hadn't liked the very first few days; the days when his unused muscles were screaming in protest but by December he was used to it and now, in June it seemed like nothing. More than that, all the effort seemed to be paying off seeing as how he had visible abs now. Not just meek ones... a six pack. Nobody had seen that before...it made him slightly self-conscious. Feeling silly, he made a funny flexing pose in the mirror.
Not knowing what to do with his other clothes, Carter folded them all up together and grabbed his shoes...he'd get them later.
Walking down the hallway, Carter felt a little like an intruder which he very nearly was. Except he had an invite to be here so it was okay. As he made his way to the stairs, he thought about how...convenient it was that Jazmine had these shorts. She'd said they were boy-shorts...they fit just right. With that in mind, Carter put a hand through his hair to make sure it wasn't all over the place. It wasn't...though it was nowhere near perfect. OF course. He was just dissolving into thought again when he heard Jazmine come in through the back door. He looked up with a grin to meet the sound of her voice and almost almost blushed. She said that he looked good...and there was a 'wow' and 'uh' inserted in that sentence as well. Jinx would be severely proud.
"They do work! Glad you had em'." He grinned and joined Jaz at the bottom of the stairs. "By the way, you don't look too bad yourself." He grinned and winked slightly and followed her out the door. Hoping that they would indeed have some fun. He only hoped it wouldn't rain...there were clouds to the West and they were moving in. "Well...it looks like it might rain so let's go!" He laughed, grabbing Jazmine's hand as the door shut behind them. He started walking faster and faster until they were near the edge and then he let go of her hand and did a jump/flip thing into the deep end. The water was barely cold and the fact that the property was mostly enclosed by fences and trees helped with the wind.
Eventually, he came up for air with a small gasp; his hair flipping up into a weird almost Mohawk hairstyle which he knew looked comical.

Carter watched with an amused smile as Jazmine cannon-balled into the pool. The moment she made a splash, Carter gulped in a breath and went under water. With his eyes open, he could kind of see through the chlorine and he could see Jazmine's blurry figure as she swam up to the surface. As a kid, he'd constantly tried to break records at holding his breath under water...now that might come in handy. He stayed under until Jazmine started to turn in circles; probably looking for him. With an underwater laugh--air bubbles escaping--he swam behind her and burst out of the water yelling, "Boo!" He also took a rather large breath to fill his burning lungs. Was that a new record? Whatever it was, he got water splashed at him from a slightly surprised Jazmine to which he splashed back and laughed.
When Jazmine started to swim away, Carter followed; not wanting to be left behind. On the way there he--not subtly--splashed her back. He leaned on the pool wall when they got there, happy to relax for a moment and admire the cloudy/starry sky. Carter turned his head when he felt Jazmine looking at him; she was laughing and before he knew it, trying to fix his hair. "Lovely hair?" He guessed but he didn't mind. "Nah...it's all good." He smiled and then pinched his nose, disappeared under water and came back up. His hair was now slicked away from his face. Maybe still goofy, but smooth and not in his eyes. "No problem, Jazmine." Insert cheesy grin.
She then floated over to an inner tube saying that if he flipped her, she'd never let him see her again. Should he test that? Maybe not? Maybe so? In one quick movement, he darted over to plant a kiss just beside Jazmine's mouth before laughing at her semi-startled expression. He launched off the wall and into the water, saying, "Betcha' can't catch me." before he went under. Hey...no rule breaking there. He hadn't flipped her over.
~*~
Jazmine smiled and stepped a little bit closer to Carter, moving the hair from his eyes--the hair he'd been ignoring--and stepped closer again. Carter looked down at her, barely gulping as she closed her eyes. He kept painfully still until she leaned closer, closer still and then kissed his cheek. After that, she pulled back and looked at him saying thanks for the awesome night she'd had before giving him a hug. Carter gladly hugged back but then pulled slightly away last-minute. They were still very close together and he couldn't help but stare when Jazzy bit her lip. "No, thank you." He smiled, eyes moving from her lips back up to her eyes. Both without thinking about it and worrying intensely over the move, he leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. After a reasonable amount of time, he pulled away and held his breath; waiting for a reaction.

F rom under the rippling water, Carter could barely make out the sound of Jazzy's voice though he couldn't tell what she'd said. Something like...'thats what you think?' perhaps, was the only reasonable thing he could think of. Just after that, the water shifted and he knew that she'd gone in after him...so he swam. Fast...oh so fast to the right corner of the deep end; the corner closest to the house and hid. Eventually, his poor lungs couldn't take the burning any longer and he had to come up. He hadn't thought much into the fact that Jazzy wasn't in sight and he'd just opened his mouth for a breath when she pushed him back under. This, time, Carter's eyes met Jazmine's and he actually took in a breath between a few coughs and a sneeze. "Cheater," He said teasingly and grinned so she would know that he wasn't angry.
A little bit later, Jazmine said "you're welcome," to his telling her thank you and even he had to admit that it was a tiny bit awkward for a minute. Jazmine looked down at the water which was when Carter had kissed her. At first, she didn't respond and to that, Carter deflated just a little bit; almost regretting that he'd done it in the first place. Finally, she sort of...half-responded. And then got out of the pool. And he was just...floating there by himself. He was pretty sure that at that point, his heart had sunk to the bottom of the deep end. And so that Jazzy wouldn't see his expression, he turned and began to swim towards the shallow side of the pool; the muscles in his arms and back moving smoothly. He was fairly sure that she'd seen a whatever emotion had flashed across his eyes. He'd never been good at hiding those emotions.
"W-wait!" Carter stopped; pausing on the second step. Most of him was out of the water and his hair was dripping down into his eyes. He was almost positive that he'd ruined whatever it was they'd had going but he stopped anyway.
Slo-o-o-oly he turned around and cleared his throat; trying to think of what to say. He knew what he wanted to say. 'What,' - in a sharp tone but he didn't say anything. She said that she didn't mean to give the wrong sign. 'Oh, really?' and that she just wanted a break. 'Lousy time for a break.' He still hadn't actually looked up. "The kiss was amazing. You're amazing." - Then he did look up. And he was sure he looked surprised...because he was almost positive that 'amazing' was the last adjective she would use. She was smiling now though he was still...not. He wondered if his face looked funny without the usual happy-go-lucky grin...
He was still looking down, hair falling into his face. It was actually a pretty... emo-boy expression. Like a beaten puppy...which was weird because Carter wasn't emo...he was normal. Usually. And that was why he was surprised to find Jazmine's arms looping around his neck as she kissed him that time. He mentally sighed, and rested one hand on the small of her back; kissing her back before breaking it to breathe. He wondered absently if--in their close proximity--she could feel how erratic his heart beat was.

C arter had just started to feel right again when Jazmine mumbled something that he couldn't make out and sniffled. He had barely caught her hurt expression before she cleared her throat and gave a very long apology. His throat constricted and began to hurt in the middle of it, he hoped she didn't really think of herself that way because it wasn't true. He wanted to tell her that, but she slipped away too fast, grabbing her towel and practically running inside.
Carter groaned--out loud--and sank down into the water, sitting on the step and holding his head in his hands. "I am such an idiot," he said to himself and sighed. For maybe five minutes, he just sat there and by the time he'd decided to get up, his toes and fingers were wrinkly.
He had decided, while sitting there, that he had two options. One: go after her and fix whatever he was dumb enough to ruin in the first place. Or, two: Walk home in his borrowed clothes in the dark. The real answer was obvious; the first option. And before he went to the door, Carter dried himself off as completely as he could so that he wouldn't drip water in her house. He also coaxed Ellie over to him and get her to go inside too. It was too dark for such a small dog to be left alone outside.
He was glad to see that she followed him right inside; even licked him on the ankle before running off to do who knew what. Carter only hoped that she wouldn't do anything to get in trouble. Then he realized that this was a big house...and that finding Jazmine might not be so very easy. That is, until he found her (thoughtful) note. He couldn't help but smile when he read it. Most of it was completely silly though and he ended up folding it in half and then half again and sticking it in his pocket. She was on the third floor and Carter felt like Romeo.
Going all the way up the steps and finding his was was pretty easy.Finding the last-minute courage to step out and join Jazmine was the hard part. He had already taken so long, she probably thought he'd left her. But really, he was standing behind the door. Finally, he pulled in a breath and made his way out, spotting Jazmine immediately.
She didn't look at him when he stepped out but he thought that maybe, he could see relief on her face. He stayed quiet for a minute, just taking everything in. Carter looked out across the horizon; they could see a lot from here. The clouds had lifted just enough that the moon--Full Tonight--could leak out some silvery light. From here, out in the country (away from some of the smog) you could even see a wide expanse of stars. Some of them had to be satellites and planes...but most of them were real stars. The ones you made wishes on. Carter wished that he wasn't so stupid.
He had made up his mind not to plan what would come out of his mouth (he usually over-planned everything and ruined the moment) and just say what he felt; a real feat for the average man. Though...now he didn't find that part difficult; saying what he felt. The hard part was worrying if Jazzy would find the things he was saying stupid. He then pulled his knees up to his chest and rested his arms on them, turning his head so that he could see Jazzy. She looked...sad. Really sad.
"Jazmine," His voice was quiet but he thought she'd heard him anyway. "Please don't be sad or angry...I'm sorry. You and I both know that you're not like your parents...or at least you should. I know that you're not and I've never even met them. I just know you're a good person." That was the absolute truth and he believed it 100%. "And you didn't hurt me," Now, that was a lie. He turned his gaze forward again and sighed. "I'm just a big baby." He laughed a short laugh. Now that was again, true.
"You just...ah I dunno how to say this without sounding even more stupid but...you just make me feel really strongly and I don't understand it." He was quiet for a moment, before scooting over to sit closer; their knees touched. "But I'm not gonna' fight it. Just...feel this. It's what you do to me," He admitted with a small smile back in its usual place. He picked up her hand from where it was resting and laid it over his heart...it was beating fast. What from? He wasn't sure. Maybe it was giving a speech or maybe it was just being near her. He could never be for sure. A moment later, he brought her hand back down and hoped that she didn't mind when he didn't let go of it.[/blockquote] words;; 954 ooc;; I wasn't going to reply tonight, and I told myself that I wouldn't but then I read it and I had to. J azzy was crying and Carter felt bad about it... granted that he wasn't quite sure what he'd done wrong, he still didn't like it at all. Crying girls made his top five of situations to avoid. There was no avoiding this though and that was for sure. So she was emotional and he'd like to admit that he wasn't, but seeing people cry had always made his emotions spike just a bit too. And that was without the lingering, weird new sensations like kissing a girl. The shock of that still zapped him every time he looked at Jazmine.
In the middle of his so-called speech, Jazmine had whispered that he was lying; that was the part about him not being hurt or effected by her leaving. He heard her but tried to pretend that he hadn't; only pausing momentarily to look down at his shoes (he'd changed back into his clothes on the way up), out to the dark horizon and then back. Of course it had bothered him in the moment and in truth, it still did. Carter had been sitting alone in an abandoned train station when they'd met--just to think out his problems. Obviously he had some issues. Heck everybody did. Carter's just so happened to be about leaving. His dad had left and never come back, his mom had left once but came back. He didn't want to have to add Jazmine to that list. And besides that, having a girl--yours and her first kiss--just up and leave right after would be a major ego drainer for any guy.
He was glad though, to find her laughing along with him and even more glad that she didn't yank her hand away from his.Just then, he was waiting for her to laugh at him or to scoff at his feelings or say or do anything that would make his rare temper flare again...(He wasn't sure why that had happened...because it never did. Maybe it was just what he'd said earlier; she made him feel really strongly which apparently, included anger too.) But she didn't. She cleared her throat and asked with a slight stutter if she really did do that to him. He said back--quietly so that he wouldn't seem to be interrupting--"You really do..."
One of Carter's most known or admired traits was his charisma and even though almost anyone he met seemed to think that he was okay, it always came as a slight surprise that they liked him. Maybe he was just humble but it sure was a pleasant surprise now. He couldn't help the crooked and happy grin that slipped into place when he heard that he wasn't alone in those feelings. It made him feel just a little bit more carefree to know that his thoughts weren't being shot down. He'd take it and walk alway with anybody else but this would be different.
Carter was lost in all the madly stirring thoughts when Jazzy moved closer; he didn't see it coming and so it really did shock him. Being up on a roof made him edgy anyway; he'd never ever liked heights. Not in the least. Really they scared the crap out of him and she probably saw that when he automatically grabbed out for something to hold onto, as well as holding on to Jazzy so that she wouldn't fall. They weren't close, but close enough to the edge to make Carter...protective. More so than usual. She looked up at him and he looked back realizing that he was gonna kiss her again. (Or was she kissing him?) It was a good kiss, regular for all that he knew until he realized that Jazzy was still crying. He leaned back just enough to wipe one away and ask, "What's this?" with a frown.
"You wouldn't have lost me," He reassured, going for light humor to lift the mood but probably failing. So he added, "I'm usually very persistent and it would've taken a whole lot more than that for me to give up. I'm a second chance kind of guy," He said with a small grin; eyes crinkling slightly in the corners from sixteen years of smiling. "You were my kiss too," He said almost absently. He wondered if she'd expected that or not.Just then, a corny but hopeful thought popped into his brain. Maybe they would know each other forever, starting now. If not the way he hoped then at least as friends. Carter touched the side of Jazzy's head; it was resting on his shoulder.
He yawned, feeling comfy, happy as he could be in the moment, and tired. It had been a super long day. Maybe the longest that he could really remember. He was leaning back against something; another part of the roof maybe but he didn't care. He was just thinking about how it might be a bad place to fall asleep.[/blockquote] words;; 943 ooc;; Another late reply...haha. Carter grinned, "You're not so bad yourself," He said, noticing the blush decorating Jazzy's cheeks and wondering if his were like that too. Warily, he watched as Jazmine stood up and went to stand at the edge of the roof. It was apparent that she'd been up here plenty of times and that she knew what she was doing. Still...it made him nervous. Without realizing it, Carter held his breath. He couldn't help the gasp that slipped through his parted lips when Jazzy slid forward and off the roof. He had to follow; he was prepared to jump right off if she was hurt or needed help. But to his intense relief and slight embarrassment; Jazzy was fine...and he looked like a dork. (A caring dork, but a dork nonetheless.) Carter sat on the roofs edge--much like Jazzy had--and gripped the fabric of his shirt over his heart, dramatically. "You scared me to death," His face was still partially drained of color; he couldn't help it. He was just that kind of guy. And then he began to fidget; not comfortable with his spot on the edge. "Could you..." he started but stopped when Jazmine offered help and he took it gladly. "...yeah. Thanks." He dove in for a swift (quick) kiss before pulling back to look up. A drop of water had landed on his cheek; it looked like a tear but he was far from crying. "It's gonna rain," He said absently. "You're fine." He smiled sweetly. "Heights are okay when my mind is on something else." With a wink, he grabbed Jazz's hand and pulled her towards the door. Just as they got inside, a loud crash of thunder sounded and rain could be heard hitting the windows. ~ "A-alright," Cater said, only slightly stuttering. He tried not to make a mental picture when Jazzy said she was gonna go hop in the shower. He blushed and then turned away, feeling awkward. Even Carter wasn't immune to guy thoughts. She said he could do whatever he wanted...so he nodded 'okay' and after Jazmine diappeared, he did too. He hurried up the stairs and noticed that he could hear water running through the pipes in the walls. He blushed again and went the opposite direction to the nearest--empty--bathroom with a shower. He took one very speedily and then put his clothes back on and headed downstairs. He felt better having the chlorine out of his hair and he imagined that he smelled better too. He must've used a guest bathroom. It had soap in it so he hoped she wouldn't mind his using it. By the time Jazmine was finished, Carter had resorted to chilling out on the couch with the TV on some random chanel; he'd never really been a TV fan but the background noise was nice in this huge house. He was more interested in re-tuning his guitar which was resting in his lap. His hair--still damp--hung down into his eyes and his tongue was sticking out to the side in concentration. 'Hey,' a voice said and Carter turned just in time to get a kiss on the cheek. "Hey there, stranger. He said, grinning with sleepy eyes. "Yeah..." He looked down, biting his bottom lip. "I guess I should, huh?" The yawn that caught him at the end of his sentence made him laugh. "It's late," he noted, yawned again and smiled.[/blockquote] Ooc;;; New Pretty Post! And a new playby! Carter, Carter, Carter - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Williams. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Take me above your light, Carry me through the night. Hold me secure in flight, sing me to sleep tonight. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Carter had started to doze off after Jazmine went outside. He was mildly curious to know what she was doing but he was too tired to check. Five minutes later he heard a car engine start and then shut off...well that explained it. It looked like Ellie had the right idea; she was out cold on her small doggy bed. Carter was getting there. His eyes were closing, closing, closing... b]"Ah," His eyes flashed open as Jazzy jumped on the couch with him and thunder crashed simultaneously. Carter cleared his throat and grinned, rubbing his eyes like a little kid. "That wasn't nice," he teased and moved the guitar from his lap to an empty space on the love-seat.Then, he turned to Jazzy with a dangerous grin and a glint in his eyes. He was still sleepy but not too sleepy for kissing. Never too sleepy for kissing. He raised his eyebrows in slight surprise as he was pushed backwards but didn't object. Carter wasn't sure how it had happened but he was freezing while Jazzy was warm. He didn't think that was fair...but he didn't pause to think about it. Instead he smiled as some hair was pushed out of his eyes; he was so used to it being like that that he didn't even realize it was there in the first place. Still, he whispered, "Thanks," absently. "I guess so." Carter bit his lip; contemplating that. He usually was against people who threw everything to the wind and declared themselves 'in love' after a few kisses, or people who kissed each other after just a day...but he didn't feel wrong. It didn't feel wrong to kiss Jazzy. Actually it felt quite the opposite but he wasn't in love. Not yet... maybe...maybe later ~ Carter was going up the stairs, holding onto a change of clothes when he walked past a bedroom door. A digital clock by the bed said three forty two am. He would believe that. And he went in there to change. He couldn't help but to wonder why Jazzy had so many changes of guy clothes but he shrugged that thought off soon. He trusted Jazzy...they were probably hers anyway. Yeah. Well whoever they belonged to...they fit him perfectly. Maybe too big...but just by a tiny bit. "You don't have to do that," He said quietly but Jazmine was already heading off with his clothes. He felt kind of bad with her doing all this...he'd make it up to her if he could. He wasn't sure how...but that was beside the point. While she was busy doing laundry--*guilt*--Carter wandered off to find the kitchen so that he could grab a glass of water. He couldn't shake the feeling that the boogie man was going to jump out and grab him...even though that was still silly. Maybe it was just all the bad memories...they weren't even his and he could tell that some bad stuff had gone down here. Jazmine walked back into the living room at the same time as Carter and he smiled. "Fancy seeing you here," He said sort of sarcastically. He picked up the remote then, to turn down the TV, and then glanced at Jazzy. She was...taking her shirt off. Leaving her in just a bra and some shorts. He dropped the remote. Carter blushed and coughed as he bent down to pick up the remote and to place it back on the coffee table. "Kay," He said and made a mental note to text Jinx for a ride. "I can...um...I can go sleep somewhere else if you want..." He said but shut up after a minute. She kind of just stood there until he laid down. He kind of expected her to go sleep in her room but she didn't. She laid down beside him. It was a big couch so there was enough room...heck it was a big house. There were probably enough guest rooms for an army. Apparently Jazmine preferred the couch? Or...maybe she just preferred Carter. He stayed painfully still until she was settled; her head pillowed against his shoulder. They kissed eachother briefly before she laid back down and fell asleep fairly quickly. "Night," he whispered and hesitantly let his arm wrap loosely around Jazmine. He didn't want her to fall... He stayed awake for a while, just thinking and breathing. Listening to the thunder and rain and weather guy. They were in for some more storms but the morning was supposed to be fairly sunny. Humid...but sunny. Eventually, the Weather switched to an Infomercial about some weird plant thing that grew tomatoes upside down. He switched the Tv off and then fell asleep. ~ Around nine the next morning, Carter rubbed his eyes and looked around. He was very surprised to find that he was sleeping with somebody...but then he smiled when he remembered. Jazzy was still crashed...he would guess that she wasn't used to staying up so late. As smoothly as he could, Carter moved away and left the couch. He made sure that she was still covered up before he kissed her forehead once and whispered, "See you later," - he wasn't into 'goodbyes'. He left a yellow sticky note to the coffee table that said He'd see her later accompanied by his scribbled on address and home phone number. He didn't have a cell phone. Jinx was waiting outside the house with a groggy expression; not one for waking up before three pm.He walked to the car silently and only glanced back at the house a couple times. He couldn't help the feeling that he was leaving their good times behind as they pulled away from the driveway.[/blockquote] Ooc;;; New Pretty Post! And a new playby!
